Marlow residents have joined forces to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity following the devastating inferno in Little Marlow that destroyed 30 acres of land.

Marlovian Anna Morant, who set up a JustGiving page after residents wanted to pledge their support, said the crew at Marlow Fire Station, along with their colleagues from other stations around the county “pulled together” to fight the recent field fires, in and around Little Marlow.

She said: “Their brave efforts saved the fire from spreading into a neighbouring residential area, and prevented what could have been thousands of pounds of damage whilst ensuring public safety.

“All the rescue services deserve recognition of their daily roles; however, a major incident such as this reinforces how lucky we are to be able to call upon them for a whole range of incidents.

“The residents of Marlow were keen to say a special thank you to the crew based at Marlow.”

There have been several field fires in Little Marlow and the surrounding areas during the recent heatwave.

The Fire Fighters Charity helps thousands of serving and retired fire service personnel and their families in times of need.

It provides “life-enhancing” health and wellbeing support to the fire community. The charity’s support programmes include rehabilitation, recuperation and psychological help.
