A man threw a wheel brace at a van from a moving vehicle in a “prolonged and frightening” road rage attack.

On Wednesday, August 8, at around 11.20am, a man was driving his van along Kingsmead Road in High Wycombe when another man, in a black Vauxhall Astra, drove on the wrong side of the road as he overtook another motorist coming in the opposite direction.

The van driver challenged the driver of the Vauxhall about his driving before the Vauxhall driver got out his car and punched the side of the victim’s van.

The man then drove his car a short distance away to park up and then removed a wheel brace from his boot and ran towards the victim.

The van driver then drove off, while the Vauxhall driver got back into his car and chased the victim down the Kingsmead Road onto Boundary Road and the wrong way around a roundabout. He then stopped his vehicle after the Happy Union pub blocking the victim’s path.

The Vauxhall driver then searched the boot of his car, and the van driver - in fear - reversed his van and turned round, driving along Station Road and turning right onto London Road.

The Vauxhall driver got back into his car and tried to overtake the van.

The van driver then turned onto Wooburn Green Lane and again the Vauxhall driver went the wrong way round a roundabout, trying to block the van.

The offender has then threw a wheel brace out his car window hitting the van, before collecting the wheel brace and driving off.

Investigating officer, PC Duncan Gallagher based at High Wycombe police station, said: “This was a prolonged and frightening incident for the victim, and we are asking members of the public who may have seen a black Vauxhall Astra chasing after a van and driving erratically.

“We are particular asking anyone who was driving along Kingsmead Road, Boundary Road or Wooburn Green Lane, who has dash cam footage and was driving at around 11.20am on Wednesday.”
