The award-winning Chicago Blues Brothers are set to present the world’s biggest tribute to the legendary Blues Brothers with Motown Mission, a two hour high energy, all-singing, all-dancing songfest featuring over 40 smash hits in Windsor.

Fronting the nine-piece band is Chris Hindle as Joliet ‘Jake’ Blues and Gareth Davey as Elwood Blues - and the pair will be joined by a live band, brass section and backup vocalists.

Chris, the driving force behind the band, said the show is something that has “never been done before” in Blues Brothers history.

He said: “The band were basically a cover band, and we are a cover band of a cover band, so we decided to take on some of Motown’s biggest hits and combine them with the Blues Brothers biggest classics to create a non- stop two hour party.

“I’m looking forward to seeing my creation and production come to life and I can’t wait to see the public’s reaction.

“One of the things I love about being a Chicago Blues Brother is the chance to carry on the legacy of the legendary John Belushi as Jake Blues; he was a crazy, funny guy who was unpredictable and wild – very much like me.

“Motown Mission is a great show – we perform original music from the Blues Brothers films as well as many hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and wherever we go, audiences know most of the numbers – it’s a total blast from start to finish.”

The Chicago Blues Brothers hope to capture the sound, energy, humour and characters that propelled John Landis’ classic 1980 film - starring the likes of John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and Aretha Franklin - to worldwide fame.

Chris trained at the De Costa Academy of Singing in York. He is a natural tenor and performer and in Joliet ‘Jake’ Blues, Chris feels he’s truly found his calling.

His joy at being part of the show comes from “working with a great cast of musicians, getting to play all over the world doing something you love”.

Award winning vocalist Gareth ‘Elwood’ Davey was a well established solo artist before joining The Chicago Blues Brothers and is a born entertainer.

He added: “It has to be the music - and I love dancing so to play Elwood gives me the chance to really let rip with my moves onstage.”

And their favourite part of the show? Chris said its the initial walk out onto the stage.

He said: “As Jake and Elwood walk on, a roar always goes up from the crowd.

“It never fails to send a tingle down my spine and I know it’s the start of something magical for the next two hours.”

Gareth added: “I love meeting everyone after the show. We always go out to the foyer to chat and do photos with members of the audience.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet people and to thank them for joining us.”

It is also a great opportunity for the boys to perform some of their own favourite songs.

Chris said: “I love ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’ – we’ve done a live, shorter version; it’s very upbeat and I would definitely classify it as a psychedelic soul tune.

“It won the Temptations two Grammy Awards in 1973 for Best R&B Vocal Performance, and for Best R&B Instrumental Performance.”

For Gareth, it’s the classic My Girl that gets him going. He said: “Everyone knows the song and everyone sings along to the chorus.”

It’s no surprise that The Temptations is Gareth’s favourite Motown band. He said: “I love their distinct harmonies, their smooth choreography and their fabulously flashy wardrobe. I just love them.”

For Chris, it’s The Four Tops - because they “helped define the Motown sound of the 1960s”.

The Chicago Blues Brothers will come to the Theatre Royal on November 18. Go to theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk for tickets.
