A new supermarket in Aylesbury will open in before the end of 2021.
The town’s latest Sainsbury’s, which will be situated on Gatehouse Road in the town, has been under construction for the majority of this calendar, with the store being the second of the chain to be built in the area.
The other outlet, which is considerably smaller, is based on Buckingham Street.
Claire Fielder, Sainsbury’s Store Manager, said: “I’m delighted to be leading the new store team for this much-anticipated supermarket, which will massively improve shopping choice for local people.
“We’re working hard to make sure we can provide the best possible service for our customers as soon as we open our doors and can’t wait to become a valued member of the local community."

Sainsbury’s Property Director Patrick Dunne added: “It’s great to see the new store nearly complete, as we know local people have been keenly awaiting it for many years and we’re grateful for all the support we’ve received.
“We’re delivering a scheme that is ambitious and forward-thinking, to make sure that we can provide a new supermarket that sets the bar for sustainability and responsible development.”
Features at the 50,000 square foot supermarket include a spacious car park that will include a Sainsbury’s bee hotel, vehicle charging points, along with many disabled spaces.
Additionally, the new store will provide a ‘substantial investment’ into the Aylesbury area, by delivering around 150 jobs.
The store will also have an Argos branch inside.
A spokesperson from the supermarket said: “Sainsbury’s has committed to investing £1 billion over 20 years to become a net zero business by 2040 at the latest and the new Aylesbury store is leading the way in sustainable development by featuring a wide range of measures to ensure that it is fit for the future.”
