More than 30 firefighters from six different stations have been called out after a massive blaze was seen in Milton Keynes.

First reported at around 7.30am on Saturday, July 16 in Bransworth Avenue within the town, the fire started in a lorry before it spread to an industrial estate.

Thames Valley Fire Control received multiple calls to the incident after large smoke plumes were visible from several miles away.

This led the emergency services from Broughton, Bedford, Newport Pagnell, Aylesbury and Northampton to tackle the fire.

Firefighters from Deddington later joined after the fire began to spread at a rapid pace.

By 9.30am, the fire had impacted a single-storey industrial unit, attached to a two-storey office block.

The site, used as a warehouse and external trailer unit, measures around 100 metres by 30 metres according to Bucks Fire and Rescue.

In all, four sets of breathing apparatus, three main jets, three hose reels, an aerial ladder platform monitor, a thermal imaging camera and a fire and rescue service drone were used to tackle the blaze.

In a statement, Bucks Fire & Rescue said: “The fire, which started in an external trailer unit, has affected a single-storey, high bay distribution warehouse with a two-storey office block attached.

“It also affected four tractor units which have been 100 per cent damaged by the fire.

“Power to the affected building, measuring 300 metres by 100 metres, has been isolated.

“The firefighters worked hard to ensure the fire was tackled quickly and did not spread to any other units in the area.

“Local traffic is likely to be disrupted as a result of this incident, which also has the potential to affect the M1.

“Drivers are advised to avoid the area wherever possible and to check local traffic announcements if planning to travel nearby.

“If you do need to use local roads or the M1 in this area, please prepare for delays, and ensure you take plenty of bottled water with you.
