Buckinghamshire Fire and Service has apologised after an Instagram mistake during the UK's national mourning period following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

A picture of a member of staff captioned "spice up your life" was posted to the fire service's official Instagram page on Saturday (September 10) at around 9:30pm.

The post, which has now been deleted, was meant for the worker's personal account but found its way onto the fire service's official account due to external site settings.

A Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We are aware that on Saturday 10, September 2022 a personal picture of one of our members of staff appeared on one of our corporate social sites.

"The image had been posted on their personal profile, and due to the external site/system settings the picture was automatically pushed through to the corporate page.

"The team dealing with our social pages were notified and the picture was very quickly removed.

"In light of this, we have revisited our social media settings to make sure all personal pages are no longer linked to our corporate ones, to prevent this happening again in the future.

"We appreciate this unfortunate situation may have caused some upset for our corporate viewers, particularly as it occurred during a time of national mourning.

"We are taking all steps to ensure this does not happen again."
