PLANS to alter on street parking in the Chiltern District have been put on hold.

Chiltern District Council has proposed to introduce pay and display areas throughout the district.

Councillors have already agreed not to introduce on street parking charges in the Chalfonts and Great Missenden but they have still not decided how to implement the changes in the towns of Amersham and Chesham.

At a meeting this evening councillors recommended a further formal consultation be carried out in the two towns. Councillors have proposed holding exhibitions to explain the changes.

Pay and display areas have been proposed in King George V Road and Sycamore Road both in Amersham and Red Lion Street in Chesham.

A decision on the consultation is due to be made by the council's cabinet on June 10.

This evening the council also recommended the East Street car park in Chesham is converted back to a long stay car park less than a year after the council voted to change it to a short stay one.

They also recommended introducing new charges for the Buryfield car park in Chalfont St Peter.

They'll only make a mess of it anyway... After the changes round Wycombe where new spots have been placed too near junctions, on crests of hills and without any thought for the width of the roads... Sometimes I wonder if the highway code doen't apply to WDC parking...
