Knife victim nearly died

A MAN found lying in the street with neck and chest knife wounds nearly died an ambulance spokesman said today.
Police sealed off Hiving woods after the man was discovered in Hillside, Chesham, on Wednesday night following a suspected assault.
The paramedics who treated the man saved his life, said Marc Lister, spokesman for south central ambulance service.
He said: "The man was in his late thirties and sustained knife injuries to his chest and neck. He was initially taken to Stoke Mandeville and later transferred to John Radcliffe hospital."
"The paramedic crew clearly saved him. One of the sisters at Stoke Mandeville commented that if it wasn't for them he would have died."
The identity of the man has not been revealed. His condition was "stable" said Mr Lister.
A major search operation was carried out in the woods on Tuesday and Thursday. Residents were prevented from returning to their homes for several hours.
The man was found at 6.20pm Wednesday. He is described as white, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft in height, of medium build and in his early thirties.
