Towns across Buckinghamshire are holding street parties this weekend to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III - find out if there's one happening on your doorstep.

Less-than-perfect weather forecasts for the bank holiday weekend, spanning Saturday, May 6 to Monday May 8, won't deter communities around the UK who are planning street parties to celebrate the crowning of a new monarch.

'Block parties' are a quintessentially British phenomenon - and not just because of the Victoria sponge cakes and china teacups synonymous with the tradition.

The first street parties were held in the UK back in 1919, as residents celebrated the end of the First World War by setting up tables in the streets and sharing food with their neighbours.

People took to the streets again in 1953 to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and judging by plans for the upcoming ceremony confirming her son as King, it's a custom that has stood the test of time.

According to data from the PA news agency, councils in England have approved 3,078 road closures for street parties this weekend.

The length of these celebrations is expected to make up 263 miles altogether - the distance between Westminster Abbey and Land's End in Cornwall.

In other words, wherever you are in Bucks, there's guaranteed to be a street party going on somewhere near you.
