EMERGENCY services are tackling vehicle fire on M25 motorway that sees "severe delays", affecting M40, M4 and Heathrow.

Police and fire services in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and London were called out to a lorry fire at around 8.55am this morning (June 9).

National Highways: East confirmed that a lorry is on fire, causing "severe delays" going anti-clockwise on the M25.

This is affecting Junction 17 (Maple Cross), Junction 16 (M40), Junction 15 (M4) and Junction 14 (Heathrow Airport)

The M25 going anti-clockwise has lane closures causing delays of around 50 minutes with an average speed of 5mph.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 8:55am on Friday, June 9, we received reports of a lorry on fire on the M25 between junction 15 and 16.

"Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Slough and a crew from Langley were sent to the scene, alongside a water carrier and an Officer from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and one person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. Crews were on scene for about an hour but there is likely to be continued local travel disruption. Please follow National Highways for the latest updates."
