In a departure from the usual, this year’s Marlow Regatta saw a display of classic cars and motorcycles from across the ages.

The collection was the brainchild of Julian Coster, who suggested that it could add a new and exciting dimension to the festivities of day one of the Regatta weekend (June 10).

Using his contacts in the world of classic motoring, he managed to assemble an eclectic mix of machinery that gathered to form an authoritative display of two and four wheeled exotica.

The somewhat diverse range of exhibits included everything from a Tuk-Tuk, an award-winning Fiat 500 restoration owned by Colin Hitchcock and a gorgeous Ferrari-liveried Peugeot van, the only one of its kind in existence.

Also displayed (amongst others) were a rare DMC DeLorean (made famous in the Back to the Future franchise) and a stunning Jaguar D-type owned by Peter Bullard.

There was also a fine display of two-wheeled exotica, including a delightful Douglas Dragonfly owned by Colin Sharp, but the overall winner of best bike at show was a stunning Cropredy Liberator owned by Rob Jenkins.

The display was also supported by a significant contingent from the International Laverda Owners Club, of which Julian is a member.

Robin Atkinson, the Regatta Chairman said "This is the first year we have experimented with a display of classic vehicles at the Regatta and it has exceeded all expectations.

"My heartfelt thanks must go to all of those people who made the effort to bring their vehicles along and present them in such excellent order.  We will certainly be looking to repeat the display at next year’s Regatta."
