A historical manor with modern perks is on the market for £3.25 million in a Buckinghamshire village.

Grymsdyke Manor in the village of Lacey Green near Princes Risborough is looking for new owners.

The new owners can get in the mood for Wimbledon by playing a round of tennis in the private court before taking a dip in the swimming pool.

Alongside the mosaic-tiled pool with a retractable cover there is also a changing room and a sauna.

The historical 9,006 sq. ft. home boasts seven bedrooms, seven reception rooms and five bathrooms.

Estate agent Hugh Maconochie said: “Grymsdyke Manor is an impressive Manor House set in majestic Chiltern Countryside.”

The name Grymsdyke could have something to do with ‘Grimsdyke’, an ancient earthwork that rungs through the village.

It can be traced at intervals for 16 miles through the Chilterns from Bradenham to Berkhamsted, but its origins are “obscure,” Lacey Green Parish Council has said.

Some of the most notable features of the 18th century house are its Victorian additions in gothic style, including crenelated parapet wall on the main façade, sash windows and stone detailing.

The owners have retained many of the historical features popular among house hunters looking for quirky details such as several stone fireplaces, moulded decorative cornicing, exposed wooden floors and panelled doors.

The kitchen is fitted with an electric Aga, a walk-in pantry and a glass hatch door leading down to the wine cellar.

A games room, an extra office or bedroom and a self-contained annex ideal for guests are located in the north wing alongside three bedrooms and a gymnasium on the second floor with a spiral staircase access.

Five others bedrooms, two with en suite bathroom or a shower room, and the principal suite with a bay window, large dressing room and en suite bathroom are in the main part of the house.

Access to the manor is through double gates and along a gravel drive surrounded by trees.

The 4.5 acres garden includes mainly sweeping lawns dotted with mature trees like oak and copper beech, a rose garden, fruit cages and a vegetable garden plus two paddocks extending the land to around 8.3 acres.

The pool, floodlit tennis court, greenhouse, three garages, a workshop and an orangery are all located to the south east of the house.
