A new outdoor cinema will launch soon in a Buckinghamshire town.

Amersham and Villages Community Board announced the first ever outdoor cinema event.

Movie fans will be treated to two screenings on Friday September 1 at the Amersham Cricket Club near the Shardeloes Lake.

The first screening features Disney animation Encanto, the story of a Colombian teenager facing frustration as the only member of her family without magical powers.

Doors will open at 2pm with the film set to start at 3pm.

The second screening is The Greatest Showman at 6pm, a musical drama starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Effron, Michelle Williams and Zendaya.

The Community Board decided to create the event after residents said they felt the one thing lacking in Amersham was a cinema.

In between the screenings, cinemagoers can buy food and drinks from Cooper’s Markets and Quick Sweet Shop while enjoying entertainment.

Tickets for the special screening went up for sale on Tuesday July 11.

Adult tickets start from £6 and a child from £4 while a double ticket for two adults costs £10 and for two children £6.

Cinemagoers were told to bring their own blankets and chairs.
