Construction work to build a new skate park within the county has now begun.

The Bridge Street Skatepark in Buckingham is estimated to take around 12 weeks to complete, and it is anticipated that the new facility will be open and ready to use by November this year.

The area has been designed for all ages, experiences and abilities, enabling progression at individual levels, whilst providing a variety of obstacles appealing to differing disciplines, including skateboard, BMX, Wheelchair Moto Cross (WCMX) and scooter users.

It has cost £250,000 but works at the site have been delayed due to flood mitigation requirements set down by the Environment Agency which have now been settled.

Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure said: “We know how eagerly anticipated this facility is and we thank local residents for their patience while all the finer details have been worked out.

“We are really pleased to be able to finally start work creating this wonderful new community asset for residents of Buckingham and beyond to enjoy.”
