A fly-tipper has dumped waste in a Buckinghamshire park.

The litter was found scattered in The Rye in High Wycombe on August 14.

The waste, including bottles of fizzy drinks and food wrappers, was reported to Buckinghamshire Council for an investigation who were now investigating it "using evidence left at the scene," the Council's fly-tipping enforcement team warned.

“Littering is a criminal offence and offenders should expect the most robust available enforcement response,” they added.

Nationally, more than two million pieces of litter are dropped each year. Over 4,000 litter bins are emptied weekly and hundreds of thousands of pounds are spent on street cleaning across the county, Buckinghamshire Council said.

Buckinghamshire residents now have a chance to win cash prizes for simply binning their litter and uploading a picture of it into the LitterLotto app.

The initiative is designed to encourage people to protect their surroundings and reward “right behaviour,” Buckinghamshire Council’s cabinet member for environment and climate change Gareth Williams said.

He continued: "If we can get more litter in bins, we can save some money that we are currently spending litter picking and divert it to other projects or services. So many residents already take time to litter pick their local areas, and for those people this is a recognition of that. Sadly, some people still drop litter, and we hope this will encourage them to rethink their actions."
