HUGE crowds gathered in High Wycombe today (August 19) to celebrate an 'emotional' day and what is one of the biggest pride events in the town's history.

The "all-inclusive" event aims to celebrate all things LGBTQ+, welcoming everyone with open arms in a safe space.

The march took place in Frogmoor, taking the colourful crowd up past Primark in Castle Street.

A car nearly blocked the route but drag queen Luna Cortez managed to get the crowd marching down Coronation Street.

The march ended outside O'Neills where families are welcome to join until 5pm. From 5pm onwards, there will be drag performances and a party until 2am.

High Wycombe's Labours candidate Emma Reynolds told the Bucks Free Press: "It's brilliant to be at Wycombe Pride. When I was an MP previously I voted for gay marriage, unlike the current MP here. I spoke in the debate in favour of gay marriage.

"People should have the right to marry who they want and I'm very much in favour of that.”

Wycombe MP Steve Baker: “I am very grateful that I’ve been made welcome because I know that the vote on same-sex marriage was an extremely painful time for people.

"This isn’t my first pride in Wycombe and I’m very grateful to be here and I’m grateful to be supported by Harry from my team as well."

=In terms of performances which are happening today, there's drag act Beardry Barlow, or better known as Matt Young who is the manager of O'Neill's in High Wycombe.

He said: "I host the event and we have an arrangement of acts, guest speakers, and committee members who will go through all things pride.
