A WORRIED resident is urging the council to take action over 'untaxed cars sold illegally' outside his home.

The man, who wishes to withhold his name, has noticed an influx of cars and vans being driven into Birches Rise and parked there.

He then notices 'exchanges taking place' next to the cars with what appears to be customers purchasing the vehicles.

"I've never seen anything like it on this scale," explained the resident who reported the issue to Buckinghamshire Council on the Fix My Street website.

He said: "I have CCTV and use my own eyes as well and catch them coming in. I use the gov website to check whether they are taxed and they're not, eventually they get sold to third parties and an exchange happens and one of them lives on site here on Birches Rise, and another one has moved in too and has the gumption to take over the car park.

"They [vehicles] are being driven into the cul de sac illegally and it's been going on for many years for a sustained period of time.

"From where I'm looking it looks shad as you don't know where they are buying these cars. It could it be linked to drug money and laundering it by legitimising it - I don't know."

"It seems to be a full-time occupation and they're blatant and it's been, noticed by other residents. They don't give two hoots and the guy I'm talking about doesn't seem to work at all. All these vehicles I'm referring to have no tax or MOT and yet they are being driven into our road.

"This is a full-on business and nobody seems to investigate it.  That's what I'm worried about it."

Buckinghamshire Council said they are unable to take action over the vehicles in Birches Rise.

However, if more than one vehicle is parked on the highway within 500 metres of each other with a for sale sign, they are able to investigate.

Steven Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We are aware of the ongoing issues at Birches Rise, High Wycombe and understand the frustration the residents are feeling.

"Unfortunately, as a Council, we are unable to take action if vehicles are parked on private land, including driveways or private parking areas, which is the case at Birches Rise. In order for us to investigate, two or more vehicles would need to be parked on the highway within 500 meters of each other and must be advertised for sale.

“We urge anyone wishing to report nuisance vehicle trading to do so via our website. Anyone believing to spot an untaxed vehicle that hasn’t been declared as SORN must also report it to the DVLA. In case of dangerous parking that is causing a blockage, or a vehicle with no MOT or insurance, this needs to be reported to Thames Valley Police.”
