IKEA is launching its first-ever car boot sale in Buckinghamshire over the weekend.

A first of its kind for IKEA, the free-to-attend event gives the community a chance to find or sell pre-loved goods during the first September weekend at the Milton Keynes store.

If the pilot is successful, stores across the country could host similar car boot sales next year.

Ikea Milton Keynes store manager David Manser said: “We’re excited to be hosting the first event of its kind for IKEA and are proud to be getting the local community together to sell, buy, explore and keep good things going.

“We want to make the passing on of pre-loved items as easy and enjoyable as possible, and by providing the opportunity for people to resell the items they no longer need, brings benefits to the community, the environment and wallets.

"If you have recently had a clear out, are looking to refresh your home, or are simply looking for something fun to do, why not come along this weekend and play your part in the sustainable loop.”

During the event on Saturday September 2 and Sunday September 3 between 9am and 12pm, free refreshments are provided to stallholders and coupons are available for hot food.

Those interested in selling at the event can request a free space by emailing ikeacarboot@outlook.com. Sellers must get confirmation from IKEA Milton Keynes before the event.

Sellers can bring second-hand home furnishing, while clothing, electronics and food are not accepted, IKEA warned.

The event is not directed at traders or businesses and sellers must be over 18.
