We will be showcasing both operational, prisoner facing roles, as well as non-operational roles within our directly employed team and with our partners.

HMPS Grendon and Springhill (Image: HMP Services)Psychology and clinical roles - The focus of the work is based on therapeutic community principles, where you would  provide specialist input into a dedicated multidisciplinary team to develop and maintain a treatment environment where views and expression is encouraged. You would facilitate structured therapeutic groups with prisoners, providing professional support and advice to all staff involved in these sessions. The purpose of the work is to reduce the likelihood of people offending again in the future.

PRISON OFFICER - Working in a prison is fast-paced and varied. You will be trained for all kinds of situations, from keeping the prison safe to helping prisoners to learn new skills. You’ll experience good days and tough days as a prison officer. You’ll need to be ready for challenging behaviour, and willing to take the rough with the smooth. But with training and a supportive team by your side, you’ll feel confident and assertive in your role and prepared to make a difference. There is a clear path for progression to the next grade to become a Prison Officer Specialist after you have completed your probationary period which is unique to our prisons.

Operational Support Grade - Ensuring that prisons run safely and smoothly takes teamwork. Everyone has a role to play. As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you don’t need any previous experience — we will give you all the training you need. Whatever your skillset, there is a place for you here!

The variety of your work keeps the prison moving. You will play a key role in keeping it safe and secure at all times. Duties include meeting and greeting visitors at the front gate and visitors centre, conducting searching and security procedures, telephone monitoring, night duties and other crucial tasks. There is also a clear path for progression to Prison Officer in the future if you are ready for the next step. This role would particularly suit people starting out in their careers or those at the other end of their working life looking for a second career who have life skills and work experience to share.

Instructors — You will work with prisoners teaching and supporting them in skills such as waste management, farms, gardens, agricultural, garden machinery repair, conservation, industrial kitchen work and catering. You can support prisoners to develop skills and interests which will help them in the future and lead to employment when they have left prison. Teaching skills will be provided on the job, we are very interested in people who have worked in these industries and are interested in passing their skills on.

Administration – there is a varied number of departments which are essential to the running of the prison where your admin skills are required. This spans across detailing how staff work to supporting prisoners to plan for their release or procure the items that we need to function.are also really important roles available with our partner organisations who are commissioned to deliver services alongside us;

Healthcare (Practice Plus Group)

• Registered Nurses and Nurse Associates
• Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Dispenser (with training)
• Administrator

Education (Milton Keynes College)

• Teaching roles – business, IT , construction skills, carpentry (full and part time roles)
• Administration and learning support
• Facilities Management (Gov Facility Services Ltd)
• Trades professionals – electrician, plumber etc
• Contractor Escorts and Handyperson
• Painter and Decorator and Prisoner work Party Supervisor
• Administration
