It's officially autumn which means it's time to start thinking about Halloween and what better way to celebrate the spooky season than to pick your own pumpkin?

Children love to carve gourds and choose the biggest pumpkin to cut out.

Luckily, there are plenty of pumpkin patches near Buckinghamshire for just that and where the whole family can have fun too.

Here are some of the places in Bucks where you can pick your own pumpkin from a patch.

Church Farm, Weston Turville, Aylesbury

Pumpkin picking is available from this Saturday, October 7 with 50 different varieties of gourds suitable for carving, cooking and decoration.

It will be the perfect family day out where you can visit their on-site face painter, have an Autumnal photo shoot and enjoy the straw bale play area and vintage tractor.

The site opens from 10am to 4pm on October weekends until October 29. Entry: £2.00 per person and pumpkins are sold on size from £1.00 to £10.00.

No booking is required and cash and card payments are taken. (Additional charges apply for some activities.)

There is also free parking on site but dogs are not allowed in the pumpkin patch.

Christmas Tree Farm, Amersham Road, Chesham, HP5 1NE

You can pick your own pumpkins from mid to late October.

The farm said on social media: "Not long to go now until we are welcoming you back to the farm for our beautiful Bucks born and bred pumpkins."

Peterley Manor Farm, Great Missenden, HP16 0HH

From Saturday, October 14, families will be able to get down to the farm and pick their very own pumpkins straight from the patch, with over 10,000 pumpkins to choose from.

The site is also selling its very own pumpkins and crown prince squash varieties from the farm shop.

To make Halloween even more special, kids can enjoy pumpkin activities in the Dutch Barn, from face painting, activities and games.

You don't have to pre-book and there is no entry fee and lots of on-site parking.

Pumpkins are priced by weight, so you’ll pay for the size that you pick.

Pumpkin picking days are on Saturday 14th (9am-4pm), Sunday October 15 (10am-3pm), Saturday, October 21 (9am-4pm) and Sunday, October 22 (10am-3pm).

During half-term week the farm is open from Tuesday, October 24 to Friday, October 27 or until they all sell out!
