PLANS for a new primary school in Aylesbury are moving in the right direction following a land handover from Barratt David Wilson Homes to the Buckinghamshire Counci.
The construction of a second primary school at the housebuilder’s Kingsbrook development on Burcott Lane in Aylesbury can now begin.
The school is due to complete in Autumn 2025 and it will initially host 420 places for families living at the development.
The proposed school will feature a 60-place nursery as well as the potential for later expansion to host up to 630 students and 90 nursery children.
The new school follows Kingsbrook View Primary Academy, which opened in September 2021, and The Kingsbrook School (Secondary), which opened its doors in September 2022, three years ahead of schedule.
The Council is hoping to submit a planning application later this year with a view of construction starting on site in mid-2024 for the primary school which will be located on Armstrong Fields, and conveniently located next to The Kingsbrook School.
Marc Woolfe, Director of Sales & Marketing for Barratt David Wilson North Thames, commented: “For the third time here at Kingsbrook, we are excited to support Buckinghamshire Council’s commitment that sees learning and development at the heart of our new community.
"This school is part of our £180 million investment in the local area and will provide families with peace of mind regarding the availability for their children’s education opportunities, all within walking distance from their new home.
“We are delighted that the land transfer has successfully completed so that the local authority can now progress the planning process for the delivery of the second primary school on Kingsbrook.
"Our contributions will go towards new facilities which will create a fantastic learning environment for both our residents and school staff to thrive.”
