BUS passengers had a narrow escape after the vehicle burst into flames.

The morning commute in High Wycombe came to a shocking stop today (October 26) after the Carousel Buses service from High Wycombe caught on fire on Amersham Road A404.

A number of passengers and the driver managed to evacuate without any injuries and the company has now launched an internal investigation into the incident, Carousel Buses confirmed.

A spokesperson for Carousel Buses said: “We can confirm that at 7am today one of our vehicles experienced a thermal incident on the A404.

“A small number of passengers were on-board at the time and were evacuated safely with our driver. There were no injuries and passengers continued their journeys via another bus. Our driver contacted the emergency services who attended the scene and we have now opened an internal investigation into the cause of the incident.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to reassure passengers that we have an excellent safety record, all our vehicles undergo regular, extensive checks and maintenance and incidents of this nature are extremely rare.”
