A travel agent praised by Chris Evans for its 'socially interactive' customer service is planning to open a new branch on a busy Buckinghamshire High Street.

Award-winning travel agent Travelbag will open a new branch at Number 11 on Marlow High Street in January after unveiling a logo-plastered store front teasing its arrival earlier this week.

The holiday company, founded in 1979, is a relatively small and interpersonal operation, with just six branches across the UK, and prides itself on offering a sociable and friendly customer experience within a market that increasingly operates in the virtual space.

Radio host Chris Evans praised the travel agent on his Virgin radio show last Friday, describing the company as "disruptors" to the trend of online booking services.

The 57-year-old presenter and DJ said: "Travelbag has realised that in places like Marlow, people have a bit of time on their hands and they want a bit of social interaction and this kind of personal service.

"I thought, 'I get that' and it made me really happy to see a travel agent popping back up in the High Street."

Lesley Rollo, Managing Director of Travelbag, said she was "thrilled" to expand the business, which has other bases in London, Winchester and Cheltenham, adding that she was keen to "embrace the local charm" of the town and "bring a world of travel possibilities to the community".

"Whether it be a tailor-made trip around Asia, a safari tour in Africa or a beach break in the Maldives, our knowledgeable specialists are always on hand with tips and advice to help make that dream trip a reality.

“We believe in creating memorable journeys, and Marlow provides the perfect backdrop for new adventures."
