A popular site for a pop-up dog café has shut down with 'zero prior warning' given to them.

This sudden closure of Revolution is a blow to the pup up event business, which has hosted a number of Dachshund meet-up events with Beaconsfield being a favourite visited twice just last year.

"So far this January we've lost at least six of the venues we've been working with for almost five years with zero prior warning", Marcus Akford disclosed.

He further shared that this issue seems to indicate a 'chain reaction' involving the cost of living.

Adding: "People are spending less and many venues are having to make up for this by charging event companies like ours more for their spaces.

"As a small family run business though, more often than not this simply means we are priced out of hosting which in turn means even less footfall for the venue."

It was confirmed last week by Revolution Bars Group plc that the late-night bar and restaurant is one of eight sites to close nationally.

Other affected locations include bars in Derby, Reading, St Peters Liverpool and Wilmslow, along with Revolución de Cubas in Sheffield and Southampton and Playhouse in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

The bar chain is looking to "reduce future site losses" with these closures.

CEO of Revolution Bars Group, Rob Pitcher, said at the time: "Despite a strong festive trading period, our younger customers are still feeling the disproportionate effect of the cost-of-living crisis and the national living wage will increase materially in April 2024."

He explained that closing several unprofitable bars was a 'difficult' but necessary step benefiting the Group.

However, staff of the closed venues will be offered positions in Revolution’s remaining 58 bars and 22 pubs, the company ensured.

As for the travelling pop-up café, they revealed plans to host in the Front Room in High Wycombe moving forward, having worked with them for around four years.

Their Valentine’s event is scheduled to be held there next month.

Marcus admitted it's a "huge shame" losing the Beaconsfield spot without prior warning.
