Documents have revealed Poundland is planning to open a new site in Bucks, although the retailer has remained guarded over the plans.

The discount supermarket is believed to be planning to open a new store at a prime retail location in Chesham.

A planning application submitted to the council suggests Poundland has its eyes set on the former M&Co building on the High Street.

The documents, which were submitted to the council just before Christmas, show Poundland Limited wants to install new illuminated fascia signage bearing the brand’s recognisable logo with a teal background.

However, an expected opening date or a timeframe for the works remains unknown at this stage.

A spokesperson for Poundland remained tight-lipped about the plans, saying they were “not in a position to confirm whether we’ll be opening in Chesham.”

He continued: “In general terms, Poundland has revolutionised its offer for customers in recent years bringing more than just the grocery and household brands we’ve become famous for.

“We now offer whole new ranges such as clothing and homewares– that means when we come to town and people see what a modern fresh Poundland brings, they understand why we’re an increasingly popular destination for those looking to save money on a wider range of items.”
