JET has given an update after multiple motorists suffered broken-down vehicles due to 'contaminated fuel'.

Since Saturday, January 6, the Free Press has received five complaints in total from drivers about their cars breaking down after visiting Jet on Desborough Park Road, High Wycombe.

It comes after Marian Coman filled up his car with 14 litres of diesel when 20 minutes later, an error message popped up on the car dashboard reading: "Water in fuel - Contact Service".

White smoke then started pouring out of the exhaust. The incident happened around 12.40pm on Saturday, shortly after attending his son's football training.

Jet has apologised to customers after confirming the pump was contaminated with water.

In their latest update, they said: "We are collecting all relevant documents and passing them over to insurance. It will take a couple of weeks to resolve the issue."

Although, this doesn't seem to be the case for one customer who has struggled to get through on the phone to Jet to complain.

Ms Gillis Noel-Moor purchased £30 worth of diesel for their Kia Sportage at 9.30am the same Saturday. Soon after driving it, the vehicle indicated a water-in-fuel issue.

Two assessments made by separate companies confirmed the issue was due to contaminated diesel.

Ms Gillis Noel-Moore said: "I used No 4 for Diesel. After we drove for 8 mins the water in fuel filter light came up."

After waiting over 5 hours for the AA, the individual also suffered time loss and extra charges from a fuel doctor for draining and refuelling.

She added: "I have been severely affected by this and I called them and try to report it and they were very rude and dismissive.

"When I spoke to someone else they told me manager would call me back.  He never called back. Now I have to pay to replace my petrol fuel filter. We have paid £620 for the fuel doctor to get us home."

David Pearson suspects the station hasn't changed its fuel tanks in nearly two decades.

He said: "I filled up last week and ever since then it's been hard to start my van."

After refuelling elsewhere, he noticed a significant improvement.

"I filled up today [Thursday, Jan 11] with Shell V Power diesel and the engine feels completely different, no starting problems like before."

He suspects the station hasn't changed its fuel tanks in nearly two decades.

Sehrish Adrees said: "My car has been affected by the fuel issue at Jet.

"I fuelled up on the 6-01-24 and now my car has a DPF light which has come up on the dash."

Echoing this Rosan Lewis said: "I have noticed something is wrong with my vehicle it appeared on the dashboard so I went to the garage and they told me that I have water in my diesel which I only ever get diesel from Jet Desborough Road Park."
