Chesham and Amersham’s MP Sarah Green has recently signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment.

In doing so, the 42-year-old has pledged her commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day by honouring those who were murdered between 1939 and 1945 in Nazi Germany during the Second World War.

The day falls on January 27 every year, the anniversary of the liberation of the infamous former Nazi concentration and death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, in 1945.

Across the UK – and the world – people will come together to remember the horrors of the past.

In the lead up to and on Holocaust Memorial Day, thousands of commemorative events will be arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country, remembering all the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.

The theme for this year’s commemorations is ‘Fragility of Freedom’.

After signing the Book of Commitment, Sarah Green MP commented: "I was deeply moved to hear direct testimony from survivors of the Holocaust and the Rwandan Genocide at a commemorative service in Westminster this week.

“In signing the book of commitment, I remembered the millions murdered during the Holocaust and other genocides and pledged to challenge all forms of hatred.”
