A BEACONSFIELD inn has been named as one of Britain's cosiest pubs.

The Royal Standard of England in Forty Green has made it onto South Western Railway's list of top 10 'cosiest pubs in the UK and the South West.'

With an overall score of 99/100 for cosiness, it ranks as the number one cosiest pub in England.

Having opened its doors over 900 years ago, visitors can anticipate a dining experience steeped in history, as the pub proudly holds the title of the oldest pub in England.

From the medieval tiled flooring to the warming smells of wood smoke, this pub places cosiness at its core, rightfully earning an overall score of 99.

The Royal Standard is also a dog-friendly pub, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend.

The research analysed the sentiment of reviews from some of the cosiest establishments in the UK and scored each out of 100.

The comfort rating was created through analysis of the phrase ‘cosy’ used in reviews as well as sentiment around ‘fireplaces’ and whether the pub is ‘dog friendly.’  

The final cosiness score was calculated by analysing and compiling review sentiment across four metrics- atmosphere (ambience rating), busyness (quietness rating), cosiness (comfort rating) and Sunday dinners. 

After delving into 500 Google reviews, the pub distinguishes itself with a vibrant ambiance, securing a noteworthy 25 per cent.

Additionally, this Buckinghamshire establishment clinches the second spot overall for its Sunday dinners, with 13 per cent of reviews receiving a positive sentiment around the dish, solidifying its reputation as a top choice for visitors.  

In second place, Cheltenham’s The Swan proudly boasts a cosiness score of 81. This pub received the second highest quietness score, with a 6% rating, ensuring visitors a serene environment. The Swan also leads in terms of its Sunday dinner reviews at 14%, crowning it the best pub to visit for a roast.
