A five-bedroom family house in a 'popular' Buckinghamshire town has gone on the market for £850k, with one unique feature that has caught the attention of potential buyers.

A five-bedroom home on Marefield Road in Marlow was listed by Quicklister estate agents on Thursday, February 8, for a guide price of £850,000, and is described as having a "stylish and contemporary" interior following recent renovations by the current owners.

The renovations certainly appear to have had their quirks, with potential buyers honing in on one photo, apparently of an entertainment room at the rear of the house, which appears to be covered in green shag carpeting - not just on the floor, but everywhere except the ceiling.

The Twitter/X account Spotted on Rightmove, which is dedicated to highlighting the wackiest properties on offer in the UK, shared the photo of the carpeted room alongside the caption: "If I bought this house, I wouldn't be able to stop stroking these green shag carpet walls".

The home, which is within walking distance of the town centre and Riley Park, also has an open-plan kitchen and dining room with a walk-in pantry, three double, one single and one en-suite master bedroom and a landscaped garden.

The listing describes Marlow as an "attractive and popular riverside town" with a "pretty" high street and a wide range of independent and chain retailers, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants.
