A riverside town in Buckinghamshire has been ranked among the top 50 best places to live in England and Wales for 2024.

Garrington Property Finders has published its annual list of the best places to live in England and Wales, with the highly-anticipated list helping those looking to put roots down find the perfect place for them, based on criteria including heritage and culture, schools and employment and house price quality and value.

This year’s list sees Marlow continuing its trend of performing well in national town roundups and being named the 38th best place to live out of 1,429 competitors.

In the individual categories assessed by the property company, Marlow ranked 510th for its natural environment, 280th for wellbeing, 256th for heritage and culture, 550th for schools, employment and connectivity and 50th for house price quality and value.

The list purports to be an “impartial, objective ranking based on publicly available data”, helping those considering a move to “identify the places in their area of interest that offer the optimum blend of quality of life and strong value”.

Twyford in Berkshire was named as the best place to live in 2024, followed by St Albans in Hertfordshire and Epsom in Surrey.

Other areas in Buckinghamshire that cracked the top 50 included Chesham, at number 28, and Prestwood and Great Missenden at number 99.
