LIVE UPDATES: Police investigate staff member attacked 'with hammer' in Londis store

Emergency services have been dealing with a serious incident in Chesham Bois tonight after a shopkeeper was reportedly 'attacked with a hammer'.

The incident happened sometime before 6pm at Londis on Bois Lane.

There is a heavy police presence in the area with the shop cordoned off and the police helicopter was earlier seen circling ahead. Thames Valley Police has been contacted for comment.

Reports from residents suggest the shop owner was 'attacked with a hammer' and has been taken to hospital.

One person told the Free Press: "I went tonight for my usual stop off at Londis. I was actually late so would have been there around that time."

They said they spoke to the son of the shop owner who was upset and said his father had been "attacked with a hammer".

It comes just a day after reports of a robbery at Ivy Stores on Plantation Road less than a mile away.

A female shop attendant was reportedly robbed at knife point, according to residents.

It is not known whether either suspects have been arrested at this stage. The police have been contacted for more information.

As of this evening, the Londis branch remains closed off to the public.
