A frequently used car park and road has reopened in Chalfont St Peter, but works continue to try and solve the village’s ongoing flooding issues.

The Square Car Park along the High Street had its cordons removed on Saturday, March 2, but a section of the latter remains closed.

The civil parish has been badly impacted by heavy rain as high levels of water and sewage-contaminated liquid were seen across Chalfont St Peter.

However, some are happy to see that parts of the village have reopened.

One shopper said: “To see the car park is a huge relief.

“I could only imagine how the businesses along this stretch would have felt when it was closed.

“It’s great to see it reopen, but let’s just hope that the ongoing works can try and stop all the other issues.”

An image obtained by the Free Press showed numerous water tanks based along the A413 as maintenance works to try and stop the flooding in the area continue.

No specific time frame has been given for when these works will be completed.
