A Marlow resident has scrapped her plans for a new shed after neighbours complained.

Dorothy Kuipers proposed to build a ‘single storey detached outbuilding’ in the back garden of 25 Institute Road.

The applicant said she would use the new structure as garden room/store and that it would not be visible from the adjacent roads.

But Ms Kuipers has now withdrawn her application following objections, Buckinghamshire Council confirmed this week.

One neighbour claimed he would be able to see the building from his house and warned of ‘potential damage’ to a lime tree in Ms Kuipers’ garden that is subject to a tree preservation order.

He wrote: “Previous owners tried to have it felled. A back door way of doing so?”

The council previously rejected an application to reduce the height of the tree from 14m to 11m but approved work to trim it back.

Another Marlow resident also raised concerns that Ms Kuipers’ shed may damage the tree in her garden.

They wrote: “Its doorway would open directly onto this tree’s trunk, putting the tree at further risk of damage.

“In addition, the proposed outbuilding would decrease the parking area of the house, thus forcing further vehicles onto the road.”
