An Amersham man has managed to secure a deal after appearing on Dragons' Den.

Anthony Cherry appeared on an episode of the BBC programme which aired in the evening of March 14.

During his segment, Mr Cherry revealed he had produced a thermostat that primarily used for rented properties.

The product, which is called ‘Time O Stat’, allows tenants and occupants to turn their heating on for a lasting two hours by pressing just one button.

If they would like the heating to be on for a longer period, they can press another button which could last up to eight hours, but as the time progresses, the heating will reduce.

The aim of the ‘Time O Stat’ is to reduce heating costs in the long run by having specific periods of usage.

Mr Cherry explained: “I have been investing in houses with multiple occupations [HMOs] for over 20 years, most of which have been shared student houses.

“It’s my responsibility to pay for the gas and the electricity.

“One day, I was doing a routine maintenance call on a hot sunny day when I noticed a problem.

“The tenants had gone out but left the heating on full blast with the windows open.

“When we spoke, they said that the thermostat was too complicated, so they just left the heating running continuously.

“I had a look at it and I completely agreed with them – I understood what they were saying, so I decided to make something bespoke for my properties and that’s how the Time O Stat was born.”

The entrepreneur went into the Den and asked for an £80,000 investment for 10 per cent of his company, and after impressing all of the dragons, all but one declined to make an offer due to the competition in that field.

He ended up leaving the show with Touker Suleyman as his business partner, after securing the money he had asked for, but at the cost of 20 per cent of his business.

The episode is currently available to watch via BBC iPlayer.
