A popular Indian restaurant has unexpectedly closed down without any word of warning.

Desire, which is situated along Kingsbury Square in Aylesbury, confirmed the news to their customers via a text message in the afternoon of Sunday, March 17.

Their brief message reads: “We regret to inform you that the restaurant is closing permanently today [March 17].

“Thank you for your support over the years.”

Their website, which is still accessible, also displays the same message.

The abrupt ending for the much-loved curry house, which has been in the town for over 15 years, has come as a huge surprise to several residents.

One person, who had booked a table at the restaurant for the end of this month told the Free Press: “I’m stunned by the news.

“My mates and I had planned to visit Desire later in March for our monthly meet-up, and there wasn’t anything to suggest they were going to close.

“We’ve been going there for years and enjoyed every occasion.

“The members of staff were friendly as we got to know them during that time.

“We had good and fun chats when we would leave and that's one of the reasons why we went back.

"Their service was brilliant.

“For the restaurant to shut without warning has come out of the blue.”

At the time of their closure, they had passed their most recent hygiene inspection which took place in March 2022, earning a five out of five.

They also had an average score of 4.1 out of five from their online Google Reviews.
