Plans for 350 new homes on a former Ministry of Defence site in Beaconsfield have cleared another hurdle.

The forthcoming development is a new estate known as Wilton Park, marketed by developer Bewley Homes and includes two, three, four and five bedroom houses and one, two and three bedroom apartments.

It is located on Gorell Road off Minerva Way at the former Defence School Of Languages, which was disused from 2013.

In a new update on the estate, Buckinghamshire Council has given its backing to further site investigations.

Planning officers said that an environmental assessment and remediation strategy submitted in December were ‘considered acceptable’.

They said investigations were necessary: “To ensure that risks from land contamination to the future users of the land and neighbouring land are minimised.

“Together with those to controlled waters, property and ecological systems, and to ensure that the development can be carried out safely without unacceptable risks to workers, neighbours.”

The update on the ground investigation concerns phase three of the development to the north of Gorell Road.

The environmental assessment read: “During the ground investigation, observations of potential visual and/or olfactory evidence of contamination were not encountered.”

Planning consent for 304 new houses with 46 retained homes at the site was granted in 2019 and the final MoD buildings were bulldozed in 2023.
