A 23-year-old man has been charged after police evacuated six houses in Marlow due to dangerous chemical fears.

Police conducted a warranted search of a home in James Close on Friday, March 22, and evacuated six neighbouring properties around 3pm after finding chemicals onsite.

Morgan Thackwell, 23, was charged today (March 26) at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court with multiple drug and weapon offences linked to the search warrant.

He was charged with two counts of having an offensive weapon in a private place as well as possession of cocaine, cannabis and a firearm.

A woman in her fifties who was arrested alongside him has been released on police bail.

Residents were told it was safe to return to their homes a few hours after being evacuated on Saturday afternoon when an explosive ordnance disposal team had identified the chemicals as safe.

However, a Thames Valley Police investigation is ongoing and a police cordon remains in place at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We would like to thank the public for their patience. If anyone has any concerns, please raise them to one of our uniformed officers.”
