A HIGH Wycombe dad is threatening legal action against Jet Petrol Station on Desborough Park Road, after diesel contaminated with water left him with a £1,000 repair bill.

Miles Retail Ltd, which operates Jet filling station in Desborough Park Road, confirmed in January that a diesel tank at the station became contaminated with water.

The pump was closed off on Saturday, January 6, with many residents reporting issues with their vehicles following use of the diesel pump.

Marian Aurelian Coman filled up his car with diesel and a warning message appeared on the dashboard of 'water in fuel' straight after.

White smoke the emitted out of the exhaust.

Since then, the father has complained numerous times to Miles Retail demanding compensation.

Marian is now taking legal action against Jet for their lack of compensation and communication.

Sent on March 25, the 'Letter before court claim' states that Coman purchased the allegedly faulty product on January 6, prompting a complaint lodged the next day.

In the letter, Coman has demanded a full refund of £30 for the substandard diesel which he alleges contravenes the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Citing repairs, loss of earning, car rental, distress, and inconvenience, Coman has claimed a further £1,000 from Jet, stating, "the goods were not of satisfactory quality".

He highlighted his further frustration, adding: "I've sent numerous emails, including to Jet head office and Miles Retail LTD, which apparently is the landlord of the station...no reply from any of them".

The letter continued with an ultimatum: if he does not receive a satisfactory response within two weeks, Coman intends to initiate proceedings in a county court.

Coman is open to utilising Alternative Dispute Resolution to resolve the issue and avoid court action.

However, he has found communication attempts with the station manager to be pointless.

He said: "Every time when I'm calling the station manager, he's not picking up".

The situation has spiralled to the extent that Coman had to borrow money to cover the costs of repairing the car and other expenses, following the New Year.

He claims to have proof of these costs, totalling approximately £790.

He added: "The money I've borrowed I've had to repay them back and made a hole in my budget".

Consistently, he has found Jet unavailable to address his complaints, an occurrence which Coman asserts has taken a toll.

He divulged: "It affected me the fact that I've been lied all the time and I can't get hold of them".

His attempts to resolve the situation have so far been unsuccessful, as he reveals that he received advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau to send the pre-action letter.

Yet despite this, direct contact remains elusive, and his calls for restitution hang in the balance.

Miles Retail Ltd has been contacted for a comment.
