The 45-year-old was approached from behind and assaulted at 5am yesterday at Waterside, Chesham.

Police are hunting a male in his late teens to early 20s.

A statement from Thames Valley Police said: "At approximately 5am, a 45-year-old woman was walking along Waterside, Chesham, when a male approached her from behind and tried to take her handbag.

"The offender kicked and pushed the woman, causing her to fall to the floor.

"He continued to tug at the bag and eventually stamped on her arm, causing her to let go of the bag.

"The offender then made off with the handbag, heading away from Chesham town centre into Waterside."

He was wearing a light blue hooded top, black trainers and shorts cut off at the top of the thigh.
