A man’s plan to build a new home has been refused after a neighbour claimed it would ‘devalue’ her house.

This is just one of the many applications considered by Buckinghamshire Council over the past seven days.

New home at 33 Rugwood Road Flackwell Heath Buckinghamshire (23/07822/FUL)

Planners have refused Mr Hamid Nazami’s plans to build the new three-bedroom home, which would have its own parking.

The applicant planned to attach the new two-storey property to the existing semi-detached home at number 33, turning it into a terrace.

However, council officers rejected what they called a ‘cramped’ development, saying it conflicted with planning policies, had inadequate parking arrangements and would ‘harmfully erode the spacing between the existing terraces’.

The next-door neighbour also claimed the plans would be ‘create unreasonable shadowing of our property obstructing our legal right of light and air’.

She added: “The impact of this additional dwelling will be detrimental to the value of our property.”

Cliveden Stud House application refused, Cliveden Road, Taplow (PL/24/0391/EU)

Planners have refused to grant Mr Mahadevan Krishnamohan a certificate of lawfulness to show that Cliveden Stud House was built without planning permission.

In an unusual request, the applicant wanted to show that the 1970s house did not have permission, because in his words, this would mean it was ‘immune from planning enforcement action’.

In his application, submitted in February 2024, Mr Krishnamohan also stated that there was ‘no dispute’ between him and the council.

However, around that time the local authority handed him an ultimatum to clear a scrapyard on fields neighbouring Cliveden Stud House and have since taken enforcement action against him.

Bellway Homes sign banned, Amersham Road, Hazlemere (24/05287/ADV)

Planners have refused to give Bellway permission to put up a billboard advertising a forthcoming housing estate on the side of the A404.

The 2.4m high advert for Pennwood Grange would ‘potentially distract drivers’, officers said in their refusal of the plans.

Bellway is launching its new two, three and four-bedroom houses and one and two-bedroom apartments this winter.
