The BT payphone at Station Approach, Marlow, is set to be removed after just 13 calls were made from it in a single year.

BT has notified residents of its plans in a new planning application submitted to Buckinghamshire Council.

The telecommunications company has launched a 90-day consultation over its plans, which ends on July 24.

The payphone is located just outside Marlow Station near the bike sheds at what BT called the ‘Orange Site BUK 0154’.

Data accompanying the notice of the phone’s removal reveals that a total of 13 calls were made from it over the previous 12 months.

Over the same period, there were also zero helpline calls made from the phone, which sits in area of widespread mobile phone coverage, according to BT.

A public notice put up by BT on April 24 reads: “We’re planning to remove this payphone. Unfortunately, it just isn’t used enough for us to carry on running it.

“If you think it should stay, please contact your local authority within 90 days of the date on this notice.”

Residents can call 0800 661 610 (option 1) to find out more about how to contact Buckinghamshire Council.
