A YOUNG speed-demon skier has beaten the opposition to make her one of the fastest seven-year-olds in the country.

Georgia Keys, of Hill Farm Road, Marlow Bottom, won five of her six slalom races in the East Region Ski Association under-eights category.

The Burford School pupil, who started skiing aged four and did her first black run - the most challenging of pistes - at the age of five, only missed out on a sixth win by four 100ths of a second.

She said: "I'm happy. My friends say I'm the best in the school.

"I like going out in the cold on the mountains. I love going fast."

Georgia trained hard for the races, which all took place on artificial slopes in the UK, by training on Mondays and Wednesdays and even getting up at 6am on a weekend to practice.

Dad Stephen, also a skier, said: "I'm massively proud. If I put her on to a decent red run (a moderately difficult slope) and follow her down with a camera I lose her completely.

"She's just too fast. She'd beat a lot of adults out there."

He added: "She's a right little sports person. She plays tennis, she swims and she's on the go every moment of the day."

Georgia will now go on to compete in the English championships in Bormio, Italy in February.
