BUILDERS were given a pink makeover for a race against cancer.
Employees at building firm Spade Oak Construction, in Town Lane, Wooburn Green, took part in a ten km run stretching from Loudwater to Bourne End in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.
The staff donned pink t-shirts and running shoes on October 1 to kick off a month of activities to support research into the disease.
Contracts surveyor Matt Stevens was the winner on the day, completing the circuit in a time of 51 minutes.
Enthusiastic payroll controller Rachel Baldwin completed the circuit twice as part of her training for the London Marathon.
Sales director John Gordon said: “We are delighted that we have committed to work with Breast Cancer Campaign during October to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity, given the current economic outlook, it’s important to do something positive.
“It’s a great opportunity for the company to come together with clients and suppliers to work towards the greater good, and any excuse to see the staff in pink is fine by me.”
The runners raised £2,750. They are due to hold a charity car wash with tea and cakes on October 18 at its offices for the cause.
