AN OLD favourite returned to Marlow Bottom last night when a village pub re-opened.

New landlord Oliver Reichhold gave the old T J O'Reilly's pub back its old name of 'The Pegasus' for the big re-launch.

The 32-year-old from Henley, who has been in the pub and food trade for eight years, said he was attracted to Marlow Bottom because of its location.

He said: “Every little village or town should have its own local and we wanted to create somewhere people could enjoy food and drink where they feel comfortable.”

Mr Reichhold said the ultimate aim was to create a gastropub – a term he admits he hates.

He said: “People are becoming more and more switched on about their food and we are trying to do something affordable.”

As many ingredients as possible would be sourced locally to the pub, in Marlow Bottom Road, he added.

Mike Williams, Marlow Bottom community correspondent for the Marlow Free Press said it was a welcome change.

He said: “I personally think it will be popular because so much of the older population know it as the Pegasus.”
