A GLOBAL inspired recipe book has been launched by a special needs school in Downley, High Wycombe .

Maplewood School, for youngsters with learning and physical disabilities, have put together ‘Feelgood Food’ a cookbook full of exotic recipes from across the globe.

Lisa Parry, learning support assistant said: "We wanted to produce a book full of wonderful recipes from around the world, which reflect the diverse ethnic mix of our school.  The recipes range from Bobotie, the national dish of South Africa, to a lamb tagine from Morocco, and we hope that there will be something that appeals to everyone.”

The book has been sponsored by a range of local businesses throughout Bucks, including hairdressers and butchers.

Mrs Parry said: “It’s so refreshing to see how the whole community has pulled together for such a great cause.”

Maplewood School headteacher John Rumble said: “I have been amazed at the generosity of the cooks and chefs, designers and printers in getting the document together for us, especially at this time of recession.  It shows that support for charitable causes is alive and well.”

Maplewood School is hoping to raise £15,000 which will go towards a new playground for the children as well as other vital materials for the school.

Cookery writer Lucy Young, author of ‘Secrets from a County’ has supported the campaign with her Lemon Passion Posset recipe.

Remi Gianquitto, victor of the Buckinghamshire Young Rotary Chef 2008, has also donated her award winning Chicken with sweet peppers and rosti recipe.   The cook book, containing 35 recipes, will be up for sale at the school for £4.99 from today.

The book will also be available to order on line at www.feelgoodcooking.co.uk.
