THE family of the Labour leader on Wycombe Council who died just yards from his home on Saturday have paid tribute to “a truly great man”.

Councillor Glyn Galbraith, 54, a father of two, is believed to have suffered a heart attack at around 9.30am as he neared his home in Keep Hill Drive, High Wycombe.

He had been on a morning run with long-standing friend Councillor Trevor Snaith.

In a statement his son Paul said: “In writing this, I feel that it is only appropriate that our views are expressed in an area used often by my dad for one of his favourite pastimes – Tory bashing!

“In seriousness however, this sudden loss has left us devastated and in shock. We feel robbed of a man who had so much to live for and to give, and as many people have said it is not just us, his family that will be worse off.

“The other areas which he touched, from the council to his work will lose in our view a truly great man.

“We have been touched by the large number of tributes paid to our dad, and although we knew he was special it is moving to see so many others shared our view. To us, he was just dad.

“ The man you went for a pint with, to the shops with or for a walk in the park. To see the amount of peoples lives he has affected has given us a great deal of comfort in these difficult times.

“Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have helped us since his passing. Your help and support will not be forgotten.

“We would also like to thank the two gentlemen and the ambulance services that fought to prolong my dad’s life.

“He may be gone but he will never be forgotten by us.”
