THE Post Office in Cookham Dean has shut, just a week after a pledge to keep the service running in the area.
However, The Post Office released a statement today saying it is only a “temporary” closure of the Post Office in Bigfrith Lane, “due to circumstances beyond the control of Post Office Ltd.”
It was revealed last week that the village service is looking for a new home after the building’s owner said she wants it emptied as soon as possible.
Landlady Jackie Power has told the sub postmaster she intends to sell the property.
The statement from the Post Office read: “We understand that the people of Cookham will be concerned about the future of Post Office services in their area. “Customers can be assured that we will continue to work to find a solution that will provide a Post Office presence in the area. “Post Office Ltd apologises for the inconvenience this temporary closure has caused to customers.”
