CELEBRITY violinist Tasmin Little will open the 67th season of Beaconsfield Concerts on Saturday, October 24 at Beaconsfield High School.

She has played in orchestras such as Seattle Symphony and Royal Philharmonic and was awarded the Classic FM Gramophone Award for Audience Innovation 2008 for her “Naked Violin” project.

The innovative project saw free downloads of her recitals available on the internet and attracted wide media interest.

Little’s unaccompanied programme will include works by Bach, Bartok and Paul Patterson.

Well known for her lively personality and connection with her audience, there are likely to be some surprises.

The concerts are organised by a committee of ten dedicated to making classical music more accessible to the local community.

Mary Hird, press secretary of the Beaconsfield Concerts said: “The concerts have been so successful in the past due to the hard work to secure up-and-coming musicians and the friendly atmosphere at the concerts. We welcome all existing classical fans and definitely new ones.”

The first season of the concerts began during the war in 1942-3 with the intention of encouraging musicians to travel outside of London and to enable music-lovers to come together.

The award-winning English poet, Walter de la Mare was the first president.

All concerts are held at Beaconsfield High School, Wattleton Rd at 7.45 pm with refreshments available during the interval and usually, the chance to meet with the performers afterwards.

Membership for the whole season, giving free admission to all the concerts is only £57 (£15 under 18s). Day tickets for non-members are available at £15-£20 depending on the concert.

Telephone 01494 678595 or call in person at the Beacon Book Shop, Gregories Road, Beaconsfield for tickets.
