SIX people were arrested on drug charges after an 18-year-old Amersham and Wycombe College student was found dead at a party.

Police found the body of Ben Walters, a drama student at the Amersham campus, at a property in Berkhamsted on Tuesday evening, after receiving emergency calls about the welfare of two people.

A 28-year-old woman was rushed to hospital where she was in a critical but stable condition on Friday.

The cause of the Berkhamsted teenager's death is unknown at present. The Hertfordshire coroner is waiting for the results of toxicology and histology tests.

Mr Walters' family said they are “utterly lost” and his sudden death “feels like the end of the world”.

A statement added: “We’re obviously completely devastated by Ben’s sudden death on Tuesday.

“Ben was much loved by his many, many friends and had a very bright future ahead of him which makes this tragedy all the harder to bear. At this time we request that our privacy be respected.”

Hertfordshire Police arrested a 20-year-old man from Buckinghamshire and a 59-year-old man from North London on suspicion of supplying drugs. They have been given police bail until March 8.

A girl and a boy from Berkhamsted, both 17, a woman from Tring, 18, and a man from Berkhamsted, 18, have all been arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and police bailed until the same date.

Gill Clipson, Principal and Chief Executive of Amersham and Wycombe College, said: “This is a very sad situation and we would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the student.

Responding to allegations in the national media about drugs on campus, she said: "Although the cause of Ben's death is still unknown we would like to emphasise that Amersham and Wycombe College has a zero tolerance policy to drugs and we are constantly evaluating how this policy is implemented."

More than 500 people have joined a Facebook group dedicated to the teenager, who is said to have been a talented actor whose favourite band was Joy Division.

Angus Edhouse, a close friend and fellow Amersham and Wycombe College student, said: "Ben was the most incredible and unique person I have ever met, he was a true friend and he will never be forgotten."

College mate Joshua Mallinson, said: "He was a great friend of mine and an all-round good guy to everyone he knew.

"His quiffey hair cut and alternative style will be greatly missed, as well as his very 'English' mannerisms.
