A 23-YEAR-OLD man has died in an accident on the Cressex Industrial Estate this morning.

The man, who was driving a black Alfa Romeo, was declared dead at the scene after his car was in a collision with a single-decker Park and Ride bus.

The bus driver was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. It is not known how serious his injuries are. None of the four passengers on the bus at the time were injured.

Fire crews from High Wycombe fire station were called to the scene, in Lancaster Road, at 9.51am.

Nicky Buckle, who runs a fast food van in the car park of builder's merchant Jewson, said Coronation Road was dangerous following the overnight snow and ice.

She said: “One of the guys walked past just after it happened and said the guy was alive when he walked down the road but when he walked back, the police had covered the car up. It is sad.

“It doesn't seem like anywhere has been gritted again – I took my husband to work at Sands and that was bad today.”

A statement from Arriva, which operates the Park and Ride scheme, said: “We can confirm that a bus on the Park and Ride service was involved in a collision this morning.

"We are waiting for an update on the condition of our driver at this time, we will also be co-operating full with any investigation in to the cause of this tragic accident”

Police have issued an appeal for information following the collision.
